Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Inventory Planning Manager, the incumbent in this role maintains the

department inventory planning, procurement and allocation process to achieve specific service level

and inventory productivity goals. The Inventory Planner is responsible for planning and forecasting for

future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys, sales forecasts, trends and

current inventory levels. Activities for this role include reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to

changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by

departments. Also works directly with members and vendors to achieve assigned Inventory and service

level goals at designated target levels.

Position Description

  • Forecasting:

  • Develop annual inventory financial plan for assigned vendors/categories

  • Develop in season forecast adjustments for assigned vendors/categores

  • Develop promotional, seasonal and life cycle forecasts in conjunction with the

merchandise manager and the promotional forecast team

  • Procurement

  • Responsible for forecasting, placing, and allocating all purchase orders for assigned


  • Responsible for the day to day purchase order management and parameter setting

within the E3 replenishment system

  • Communicates and coordinates with vendors, logistics and distribution for the expediting

of all purchase orders for assigned vendors/categories

  • Assists in resolution to vendor supply chain issues

  • Inventory Management;

  • Accountable for achieving service level goals and inventory turn for assigned


  • Identification and process resolution for obsolete / slow moving inventory issues

  • Communication:

  • Communicates with Members/store owners – answer questions and resolve

merchandise supply chain issues and problems

  • Assists in resolution to vendor supply chain issues

  • Attend Reunions

Position Qualifications

Minimum type and years of related experience required:

  • Up to 1 year of related experience required

  • Eperience in logistics, supply chain, and/or wholesale required

Minimum education required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
